The Santa Monica streets were dangerous with the rubble of broken sidewalk. So we loaded it up in the back of Kell's 4Runner and built ourselves a garden wall. Keeps all, but one, of the local dogs from using our patch as a restroom.

My inclination would be a remake of Sherlock Holmes is destined to fail misserably. But I've read serveral of Mary Russel series and they're all quite good. Goes roughly like this, Sherlock 50, marries wipper snapper Mary 20. They cohort to solve crimes in settings of the time, early 1900's, laid out vividly by Laurie King.

IBI has 2,000 plus employees. The one that stands out the most to me is Nadya Zybko. She's the reason our impossible project is even close to completion. She's exceptional. She's been with IBI 10 years and never been promoted - what does that say about the company. When she leaves to do her MBA at Cornell this summer, it will be a big loss for me. She's the type of person who is smart, gets things done, and has a sense of humor. She'll probably run a company like IBI one day. Wish she had higher asperations, she'd probably be Commander And Chief.

Thanks to West LA Studio Services for a grand time. We got there at 9:30 and they had the drums setup, 4 mics hot, 2 guitar and 1 bass amp ready. The only thing this place lacks is a coke machine that sells beer like Klown used to. But we were prepared, plenty of party.

Kell and I loaded a bunch of rocks into her car. I built a little stone wall in our garden today and it was a lot of fun. Then I relaxed and finished The Tristan Betrayal. It was a pretty good mystery but not as good as trying to figure out who the author of the book is. Looking at the cover its hard to believe its not Robert Ludlum, but he's dead.

Bought my first ever air-conditioner today at Costco. We stopped by the nursury on the way home and our purchase came to $19.46 and I said "cool the year I was born" and the guy working there said "me too". Hmmm, I didn't know I looked 60. But the person in line next to me didn't look 60 either, I never recognize celebrities, but this time I did and Kelly didn't!

Best job I ever had was at a little outfit called Yourmobile.com. Great people. Small place, funky and fun. One of the guys married one of the twins. I didn't think a job could get any better and then one day they walked in - a bunch of nerdy programmers and perfection in vinyl. At the Christmas party Kelly observed "It's Laura Croft encarnate."

The Da Vinci Code was a good movie, but it could have been great. Too bad.

It's pretty amazing that you can record 10 channels at once on a standard computer for under $200. You can get a decent mic, stand and chord for $10 each. You can use the computer to mix or buy mixers starting at $35. CoolEdit Pro, now Adobe Audition is terrific.
